In one case when Peggy brought her bear to me, she put it in my lap
and said [have that]. I hugged the bear and returned it to her. Peggy
became angry. [have that ! have that !] she quickly responded. I found
myself trying to mollify her by introducing a verbal distinction –
between “Daddy have that” and “Peggy have that.” It is not clear that
Peggy uses this distinction, but it has been picked up by Gretchen as the
following notes show.
