Episode B: Bob: What? {P: “eh” (e, /xxx/} What are you going to do? [trying to unbuckle] Is there some problem with that next, sweetie? Oh, there you go. [P lowers her head to mouth the belt] Chomping on it, huh? {P: guttural expression of effort} Well, can I help you? Here, look at this. [B: loosens the belt to a big loop] What about that? Aha. It’s got a secret. [P: again mouthing the belt] Yeah. {P: guttural expression of effort} Too hard to pull? Well, here, let’s pull it up this way. [B: frees the belt end] Ta-da. What do you think, sweetie? [P: again mouthing the belt] Great tasting, huh? [B: lifts Peggy up, away from belt] Well, I don’t think I want you to chew on my belt anymore. You do? Well, here, we’ll do it all the way.[B: separates leather and buckle] Here we go. This side comes off here, see? [P: mouths the buckle] Well, I think that’s enough chewing on the belt. I’m sorry, Peg. Come on. You hold onto this instead [a cloth as distraction], please… I know. We’ll get rid of it that way. [B: extracts the belt from loops] Daddy hid it. Your bad old daddy, he got rid of it. Something else? [P: returns to the belt former location, stops] No belt, it’s all gone. Okay. Peg, Peggy, shall we play with “Going for a Ride”? Sweetie, [B: singing] well, we’re going for a ride. [P: Peggy looks over the chair arm for the missing belt? or is she just mouthing the chair arm?] And we’re not going very far.

Well, I’m glad you got over it. [B: returns to singing] Do, do, do, do, do, And the baby goes. {P: “eh” (e, /xxx/}. {B: uh-uh} And the baby goes. [P makes a duplicated sound] And the baby goes. And we’re going for a ride. [P makes a single sound] Just the kinda ride to please. [P makes a single sound] {B: begins repeating her sounds…with some variations] Yes. You want to sit down, sweetie? [P: appears to shake her head “No”] No? What are you standing up for? You don’t have to, Peg. I’ll put you down. You want to sit down like this? Boop? You’re going to stand up like this. Boop. [B: starts singing again] And the baby goes. [P makes a single sound] And the baby goes.[P: reaches out to Bob’s forehead] Uh-uh. You get it. Well, now [P: makes several sounds] I don’t understand, Peggy. Speak more plainly to me, please. Well, I’ll tell you what. Let’s, you and me, or maybe you and your mommy, go on to do something a little different.
