Eating and Drinking Water and Food; Hiding in a Box Bob: (tossing two beanbags on the floor in front of Peggy, he says: here, Kill a beanbag. Peg: (with the toy rhinoceros in hand – which she labels a hippopotamus – she smacks the toy rhinoceros onto each of the two beanbags. Bob: (laughing) they’re dead… Here’s another one, though. (He tosses a 3rd beanbag which lands near Peggy’s knee.) Gotcha… Oops, I missed them. Peg: (moving the 3rd beanbag in between the other 2, she says: I want to eat some water – at the 1st beanbag – drink some water; drink – at the 2nd beanbag – and then at the 3rd beanbag, she says: eat; he got a water. Eat the food – returning to the 3rd beanbag. Bob: he does? Peg: Yep. Bob: why doesn’t he eat the water? Peg: (explaining what the beanbags represent in her micro fantasy, touching the rhinoceros to each beanbag in turn, she says of the rightmost beanbag: that’s food – and touching the other beanbags in turn – that’s water, and that’s… Water. Bob: can she eat the water? Peg: (no response to Bob’s question; making nonverbal noises, she puts the rhinoceros inside the largest wooden box.) Bob: (as Peg stuffs the rhinoceros in the wooden box, he asks: can you drink the food? Peg: (emphatically) no! Bob: why not? Peg: she’s got food. (It is unclear whether got should be interpreted not; got makes more sense..) Peg: (continuing to press the rhinoceros down below the upper edge of the wooden box, she says: she’s hiding somewhere. Bob: I guess she is. Peg: she’s hiding in there (pointing at the rhinoceros). Bob: she’s also peeking, and that’s alright. Peg: (her attention moves to a different focus) |
